Po River Water and Sewer Company has notified the Virginia State Corporation Commission and its customers of its intent to substantially increase its rates for service effective February 1,2010. Among other changes, Po River proposes to increase the quarterly rate for each privately owned lot from $22.69 to $37.98 and to increase the quarterly rate charged to IACT from $45,345.00 to $117,003.00. As our members are well aware, the charges to IACT will necessarily be passed on to its members. Under Virginia law, the rate increases will become effective as proposed unless properly challenged. Accordingly, the IACT Board of Directors requests that each of our members sign a copy of the attached petition to request the Commission to schedule a hearing to take evidence concerning the reasonableness of the proposed rates and other changes being proposed by Po River. As soon as possible, please mail the executed Petition to us at the address noted at the bottom of the Petition.
